Here's a link to an interesting article from someone with lots of Ruby on Rails deployment experience. He's advocating moving away from FastCGI and toward something like what is made available with Mongrel.

We don't have any plans for Mongrel in the immediate, but we're always looking for new features to support for our clients, and if the requests start to trickle in, we'll consider it, definitely.
