Hosting Free Music

Hi,

I want to host free legal music on my OCS hosted site:
http://www.mountainshows.com for bands that upload the music.

Is anybody else currently doing something like this on an OCS site? Do you have any advice for starting this up? Where are some good resources that may help guide somebody through doing this in a way that is most accessible to the people browsing the site with different browsers.

Also, I would like to learn about good rules of thumb for estimating bandwidth that this will use, based on the number of people who are visiting the site. Also, how would something like 'the Slashdot effect' be handled on an OCS solutions shared server solution?

We get asked the slashdotted question quite a bit, and our answer is that we are able to handle suck a spike. Of course you would be responsible for any bandwidth overages if that were to occur, but we have weathered the slashdot storm before and will again :)
